A dedicated employee for more than a decade, Simone, who currently works in the finance team as a Reconciliation Officer, commented “When I started, there was about 8 or 9 people in the office and it still amazes me today, the growth of this amazing business.”
We asked Simone a few questions to celebrate her milestone:
Simone, congratulations on your 15th Work Anniversary! I’m sure you’ve seen some great changes in your time. Tell us, what is your fondest memory of your time at Kollaras & Co?
My fondest memories are those watching Tass and Michael’s children grow into the amazing adults they are today. When I started with the company, Michael’s young son, Jonathon, was only 5 years old and very cute! I also have fond memories of the late Mrs Kollaras come into the office every day to make breakfast for her family. She was such a beautiful lady who loved her children and grandchildren dearly.
You’ve had quite the journey during your time with the business… What was your first role at Kollaras & Co?
My first role was Accounts Payable and Inventory Control. This included doing the accounts for the fruit and vegetable side of the business, which was where Kollaras & Co started their business.
What does your role entail, and what is your favourite part of the job?
My current position is Reconciliation Officer, in the Finance Department. I reconcile all freight invoices and maintain the data in our freight management system. Next month, I will also attend training courses in Sydney for our new payroll system, as I will be moving into Payroll in the near future!
What do you like most about working at Kollaras & Co?
I really enjoy the great people I get to work with, and the flexible working environment I have. I have two young boys, and having the flexibility to swap days to attend school functions is very important to me, and always appreciated.
When you started at Kollaras & Co, you weren’t a Mum – But now you have a beautiful family of your own! How will Kollaras & Co fit in to your future, and what’s the end goal for you?
I am hoping to work for another 15 years, which will lead to my end goal of retirement! [laughs]
Thank you for your hard work and dedication.
